Re: Can public schools teach about God and which one should they focus on?
Public schools can teach about the philosophy, beliefs, and history of the various religions and the impact that those religions have had on civilizations. Since all public school teachers are effectively agents of the State, they may not teach from a religious perspective or give the impression that they are requiring students to accept the tenets or beliefs of any single religion.
While it is true that some very hard core Christians repeatedly attempt to get their beliefs incorporated into public school curricula, the courts have consistently ruled against them.
Thank God for that.
