I was reading matthew 24:29 and it says jesus will return immediatly after the tribulation its not saying anyday now then the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light, then the sign of the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory some preachers say jesus can come any day now.But according to the bible this is not true .Also the word rapture is not in the bible but only the word caught up, but thats also in Matthew 24:31 where it says...And he will send his Angels with a great sound of a trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds from end of heaven to another. Is this the real rapture? As some believe is a secret rapture. Some also believe the tribulation is only for the jews? Does anyone have a feedback on this .ty.
Firstly, no-one knew the time of the end, not even Jesus, who said that only his Father, the Creator, knew. The early church thus speculated on when Jesus would return. Even the apostle Paul thought it was imminent, but he could not know for sure as he simply did not know. He did know, that there would be certain signs that would indicate when the end was drawing near, e.g. that the gospel would eventually be proclaimed to the entire inhabited world. Jesus could come any day now, but we can't be specific. One thing is certain - we are closer to the end now than we were 2,000 years ago.
Secondly, whilst the word rapture does not appear in the bible, neither are the words computer, climate change, trinity or christendom. That does not mean that these things don't exist - they are words coined to described a much wider, known concept or occurrence, by people. The word used by the writer to described Jesus' return is Parousia, which is the regular word for the arrival of a governor into his province or for the coming of a king to his subjects - a coming in of authority and power. What we can be certain of is this: that history is going somewhere, not just bumbling along, and that one day in the future Jesus will return and then the rule of God will begin.
