My guess would be that your city is in trouble because it is run by those whose political leanings are left wing. Now you suggest that you would vote for Dilma, a Marxist. You must be a glutton for punishment.
If Aecio was an American politician, then, given the positions he has taken on political and economic issues, he would probably be a Republican. If I was living in Brazil, he would have my vote.

A glutton for punishment, what does it mean? That i want to be punished, lol, hahaha. What does it mean?
I want a better country but, look at my own point of view.
There is only one strong party in Brazil, and that one is Dilma's labour party. So isn't that unfair? Shouldn't we have at least 2 strong parties?
That's why I vote for Dilma, so Aecios party will maybe be a stronger opposittion.
Tell me if I am crazy or a genious, lol.

Taffy, if somebody does something that causes something bad to happen and then repeats that action over and over again producing the same result they are said to be a glutton for punishment.
Brazil currently has high corporate tax rates that inhibit foreign investments that would stimulate growth. It also has a massively cumbersome procedure for starting up a new business which discourages many potential entrepreneurs and thereby limits job growth.
If politicians in office continue to follow policies of high taxation and burdensome regulations that restrict the free market place and stifle economic growth and the majority of voters continue to re-elect them to office then those voters are gluttons for punishment.

And the best way to make a weaker party stronger is to vote for their candidates.

The best way to deal with a weak party is to destroy it.  The best way to deal with a strong party that's got out of control is to get the hell out of the country. .. .

UK politics is suddenly hot stuff! The Socialist Parties have shown the!selves up for what they are.  Nobody has any respect for them, or the Government agencies which follow their shared agendas, like the police and often the teaching profession to name but two.

A new kid is on the block who doesn't mince his words.  He smokes, he drinks.  And he's pretty darned clever . . .Doesn't help, him being called Nigel.  But what the heck. . . he speaks my language. . .and the elections not far away now!

In every democracy the majority of the voters have the capability of kicking every citizen in the head. They sure as hell did that here in America.
The impact, though, of an incompetent American president is felt well beyond our borders. Obama’s policy of “leading from behind” has proven to be a disaster on the world stage.
Hopefully, President Dilma Rousseff’s next term will prove to be a positive thing for the Brazilian people. One can only hope.
